Covington City Council member to run for state Senate

Covington City Councilmember Kristina Soltys has announced her candidacy for Washington State Senate in the 47th Legislative District, entering a race that includes incumbent Democrat Claudia Kauffman and fellow Republican Carmen Goers. Soltys, who defeated a 14-year incumbent with 62% of the vote in 2019 and was reelected unopposed in 2023, says she is running to fight for working families struggling with rising costs, public safety, and a government out of touch with South King County.
